Responsible Land Use
The farming industry in the United States is saturated with questionable large-scale farming practices led by private and corporate efforts. These practices have proven harmful and neglectful to the land and the creatures that inhabit it, including ourselves. Strongroot Farm and regenerative communities just like us hope to change that.
It begins with the ground: we intend for our farming practices to nourish the soil that raises our crops and for all that we grow to benefit the ground it’s harvested from. Some initial growing practice goals include creating a mycelial network of native fungi and the implementation of interplanting and minimal till practices. We are also inspired by Onondaga farming and the tradition of Ohero:kon, Under the Husk, a coming of age and way of life ceremony that expresses itself in beautiful displays of plant symbiosis.
We want to grow strong, flavorful crops that come from healthy land worked by people who care for it. And in doing so, create networks of culture and community to be shared by generations to come.
